There were so many things that needed to happen in order to get a physical tasting room up and running.

First of all we needed a building. Fortunately, we had a run down 1965 two car garage on our property.

Next, all of the licenses and permits need to be in place. The Federal TTB (Tax and Trade Bureau), State and County Governments need to register the business change, inspect and ensure that public health and safety meet all current codes. There are a lot of steps to complete to meet all of the requirements.

And then there’s the requirements of time and money. We both work long hours keeping up on vineyard work, winemaking, and social obligations, and Ryan has a full time job as a USPS Letter Carrier! Most of our income supports our household and the existing winery/vineyard. Fees and taxes are omnipresent and recordkeeping and inventory tracking is constant.

HOWEVER!… We’ve made it through the process! We’ve fixed our existing building! We replaced windows and screens, cleaned and repaired the structure and we’ve installed a new well, two chemical toilets, a few sinks, new covering on the concrete floor, new ceiling, really cool furniture, completed all of the necessary paperwork paid several hundred dollars in application fees and passed all of our inspections!
